Claw of Archimedes, or translated as "Iron hand". Image of a painting by Giulio Parigi. Designed to protect the Carthaginian city of Syracuse, its an underwater device that if a ship gets too close it will lift it up and tip it over. Cant find reference to how it was triggered.... or what powered it... anyone have any ideas on this?... Wiki says It also says But I cant find any video?... Except this, and I have started the video at the relevant part. Question would be, what weight on the counterbalance?... is any "crane" of that time that strong?... Its not can we do this now, its could they do it then.
