Can you get serious life threatening injuries from an escalator?...
There is a story of one Francisco Portillo who got his hood caught in one in a Boston train station and was strangled to death. Sure, he was drunk at the time, but the ultimate cause of death was the escalator.

I know escalators have been much improved over time, but is that just "tombstone technology" in that after a series of unfortunate events, they have just HAD to improve?...
