I dont disagree, I just question the validity of the term "Cancer"... But that is rather pedantic, arguing over the right medical term, over the body of a patient who is still going to die very quickly. When you die, your dead. Some of us have had a restart, thanks to medical people, but most people dont get that extra time.

Some of us have had a restart, thanks to medical people, but most people dont get that extra time. it all comes down to definitions. cancer is defined as cells growing wrong. It's like the difference between saying mixing bleach (I think that was the engine killer they confirmed) into your gas would wreck your engine and saying mixing bleach in you gas would turn your car into a Fiat.

It is as LTW says the definition of the word cancer cells that grow wrong.
There are gaseous substances that will corrode the lungs, cause avioli to burst and in other ways damage lung tissue like mustard and chlorine gases that were used in WW1 but they did not cause cancer in the lungs instantly. They may be carcenogenic in the long term, but the instant affects that they have are not cancer.
To be fair to the writers of the original anime series this may be a fault in the translation between the Japanese original and English, there are sometimes subtle differences between words that can matter.

There are other gasses that can cause infection, and subtle cell changes, in the the new cells replacing old cells, grow "wrong" for a period due to the infection...
Does that meet the criteria for cancer?.
Again we are arguing pedantics over the M.E. doing the Autopsy here, to be honest, its the gas that killed, He dead, he died, now they dead, they still dead tomorrow morning, and the final conclusion of the autopsy is mass cell death causing a lack of oxygen, thus death was caused by oxygen starvation due to cell damage of the lungs?..
Yes "cancer" is maybe a to broad a term, or incorrect term, they choked to death, death is instant, especially if its one of them that replaces oxygen in the blood stream, masses of carbon monoxide can do that, and you still choke to death.
So Yes cancer is maybe a wrong term to use unless they go on to explain what type of cancer and how it works?..

No I think Ironhold is sensible enough to understand the the other mechanisms that various chemicals could cause lung damage and death, he was asking specifically on our opinion as to a substance causing 'instant cancer'.

In that case, we need to define "instant"
Yes it can cause something that will be cancer, but how "Instant" would that be?.

In that case, we need to define "instant" Yes it can cause something that will be cancer, but how "Instant" would that be?. which is our point: it can cause instant death, and instant cancer, but it can't cause instant death from cancer.

King Of Bandit Jing, episodes 3 & 4
At one point, the city of Adonis was a thriving agricultural community. The star of the show was a type of grape believed to have assorted magical properties, such that it was said they could even slow down time itself for whoever ate them. However, the town was quickly taken over by Master Gear, who turned it into something straight out of "Metropolis" in his efforts to seize control of the entire supply of these grapes. As powerful as Gear is by himself, his power is greatly amplified by the presence of Sherry, a mystical fox creature who can transform herself into an arm-mounted cannon; Sherry's hearing is so acute that she can actually hear a heartbeat.
Jing and his pal Kir, a crow who can likewise transform himself into an arm-mounted cannon, originally come to Adonis to steal some of these grapes for themselves. But upon discovering what Gear has done to the town, he ends up helping a group that's dedicated to overthrowing Gear. While Gear and Sherry may be far more powerful when it comes to combat, Jing is a master tactician; once he figures the pair out, he's able to maneuver them into such a no-win situation that Sherry up and leaves, leaving Gear at the mercy of the people he just got through oppressing.
Elements for possible testing:
1. Early efforts to confuse Sherry's hearing revolve around Jing and Kir synchronizing their breathing and heart rates, such that Sherry can no longer tell that they're two separate individuals.
2. A later, and far more successful effort, involves Kir slipping off to activate a large number of clock alarms to mask their movements. The noise is so great that she can't hear Jing's heartbeat even though he's in the same room as her, which is critical as smoke and debris are obscuring her vision.
3. Gear's final gambit fails so spectacularly that the clock tower he's using as his base of operations comes crashing down. With debris blocking the stair well, Jing and a resistance member named Mirabelle must jump out a window. Their fall is broken by a large vat full of flower petals, presumably the same petals that were used earlier in the episode to jam the massive hourglass (by "massive", I mean "it was bigger than the clock tower) Gear had been using.
edit -
The grapes are explained as being the "purest" grapes in the region in multiple senses of the word, such that it's believed they're the species that all other grapes are derived from. In that sense, they could well have a significant quantity of nutrients that could well slow the effects of aging, especially when consumed regularly. So unless someone wants to do a side venture into nutrition and health science, that's something best left alone.

well, the vat full of flower petals may be testable, at least in small scale. I'm guessing it will depend on the shape and resilience of the petals, and essentially be a variant of the dumpster dive the team has already done.
Targeting by hearing was done on the search show - and while there were issues in the test, it did establish that rough direction sense is possible. I can say for a fact that having a lot of background noise can interfere with hearing.
I don't really see synchronizing breathing and heartbeat as being testable. particularly since you're dealing with at least one nonhuman.

As LTW say Kir is a non human so testing would be difficult, it's also a magical creature is it can turn into an armed mounted cannon so all bets are off.
But if it were a normal crow its resting heart beat would be around 350-370 beats per minutes compared to a humans 60-100 birds hearts run much faster than ours.
Birds also, have a different breathing mechanism than humans ( and other mammals) they have air sacs that extend into some of their hollow bones, that mean they don't breathe in and out in the same way we do, but really on pressure differences between these sacs to exchange gases with their blood.

I'm slowly making my way through the series now.
The premise is that Jing is coming after targets that one would think a bandit like himself would be into, only for him to discover that someone even more evil is afoot and maneuvering to stop them while getting something for himself.
For example, in episode 2 Jing came to a port city in response to information he received that a mysterious ghost ship which was skulking about was, in fact, a floating casino with an elaborate disguise. It turns out, however, that it's both: the pit boss is in fact an evil spirit that feeds off of human greed. Jing, with the help of a female deputy assigned to investigate, frees a large quantity of souls who the pit boss ensnared, leading to karmic justice as the souls drag the pit boss down to the underworld.
Whereas his original target was the large quantity of gold and money that would obviously be changing hands aboard a floating casino, in the end all he winds up stealing is the female deputy's heart.

King of Bandit Jing, episode 5
Jing and Kir are employed to rescue a young girl who is being auctioned off by black marketeers. Kir and another bird stage a diversion and then proceed to push her wheelchair out of the auction area, but there's just enough of a grade to where they can't stop her from going out a window. Fortunately, Jing is there... with a fire ladder truck. Jing has extended the ladder to near the window, and so catches her as she tumbles.
It's possible for someone to catch someone else if they fall. But...
1. He'd have to be able to catch her as she fell, something that won't be easy as he's stuck in one spot and balancing in one place.
2. Even if he did catch her, one would think the sudden addition of mass would send a jolt through the system, especially since the ladder is indeed extended.
