Bouncing Batteries.
I believe this is a "Field test" for batteries. Take a known good battery, dry cell, and a questionable one, and drop them on a hard surface. If the questionable one doesnt bounce as high as the known good one, its "Dud". Dependant on how high it bounces, it may have some life left....

Not surprising, as the cathode material, which forms the outer shell of the battery, becomes less dense as the battery discharges. that's also why dead batteries tend to be more prone to leaking.
I wouldn't recommend bouncing lithium ion batteries.

I wouldn't recommend bouncing lithium ion batteries. I bounce my battery powered tools all the time. then I usually swear because I have to pick them back up.

That was on QI a couple of weeks ago. Confirmed? Was it?.. I must have missed that one... But that could be where the person who showed me the "trick" got it from.

Just thinking, I have a lithium powered mini jigsaw for those awkward places, and I have dropped the battery once or twice because the damn thing is awkward to put in place, it hasnt stopped it working... And yes I have been trying to teach it Saxon. BTW. Myth Busted that there are no Saxon swear words. There are many in the english language, its just that we have been using them so long now we forget their origins...
