last time I tried to get a "two knob" head unit for the stereo in my Jeep is was a case of "we don't make those, just cut away your dash to fit a DIN chassis." um, no. the previous head unit is still in the dash - the center console now houses the one that would actually work if I hadn't been in a rush and cooked it, one day when the battery was dead. They make quite a few these days www.classicindustries.com/shop/1977/firebird/parts/?q=Radiomaybe I wasn't the only one who wanted to keep the dash looking original.

Wow! It's really starting to come along! I don't know how the rest of you feel, but when I watch some of those car restauration shows it almost doesn't matter how much else has been done, it doesn't really start to look like you're making headway until the paintwork's been done. I know there's always a lot of stuff to do afterwards, but seeing it painted is like a milestone in the process. It usually means you can get down to installing all the parts that actually make it a real car and not just a bunch of individual parts. Can't wait to see the finished result

For me a car that is under restoration gets to "Almost here" when the glass goes back in. For this reason, I have always kept the glass till last... The reason is it stops me wanting to hurry up and bodge to get it on the road?.

I have heard it said that no restoration job is ever "Complete"..... Even when sold, its still a restoration "In progress".... I dunno, I have seen some pretty good ones in my time, I suppose its down to how you let them into your family.

beautiful car and nice work on it. some day when we get the whole place to ourselves, I hope to clear out the garage enough to start a nice project car myself, but no chance till we both get more permanent work and the main restoration work on the house is done.... maybe one of the nice old russian cars, like gaz pobeda

Unless you can bring the floor up to my level that is?. they make tools to do that. Yes they do, and one if them is called a "Workbench", but then, where will I keep my screw collection?.. You think I would want to put all those pieces of wood back in the racks as well?... Plus I cant afford a hydraulic lift other than the two ton trolley jack to lift the bigger pieces off the wheels either. Especially the pieces that need to stay off the wheels...

I haven't seen it in person, but I understand they make a lift that you can essentially sit in a chair and bring the part of the car that needs fixing to you at the angle you want to work at.
