Please don't do a masterful job of returning the body to 1977 and then put on 2016 wheels and tires. I cringe every time I see a beautiful old muscle car with ricer wheels.

Same wheel tire combination as from the factory did you manage to get the original wheels? They were there when I bought the car in 1985!

having original wheels is way cool. so many people changed them out in the 80s.

Getting a professional finish job on the paint is always worth it, they can multi-coat, sand back, and throw a couple of layers of lacquer over the top much better than rattle cans. Many charge by the hour, so as much work done beforehand saves them time.

so then the next decision is to decide whether to replicate the factory paint finish or to upgrade it a bit...
I believe the bird was originally an applique but if one was willing to spend the small fortune to have it painted into the finish, (which may not cost more than replicating the original applique) it would be incredible.

Stock decal kit.... I have it in mind to suggest that you talk to the paint guys. They can apply the decal on top of the paint but under the final lacquer?... If done right, that gives it an incredible shine when done... ask the paint guys if they can do that for you. (I know one paint shop round here that is more than happy to do that...)

last time I tried to get a "two knob" head unit for the stereo in my Jeep is was a case of "we don't make those, just cut away your dash to fit a DIN chassis."
um, no. the previous head unit is still in the dash - the center console now houses the one that would actually work if I hadn't been in a rush and cooked it, one day when the battery was dead.

It is soooo strage how such a simple job of putting the glass work into a vehicle makes a sudden jump from shell to almost a rolling project...
The dash is also a good addition... simple things like putting it in place, even of not fully connected, make it more of a car than a stack of pieces?...
Again, good luck with this, it looks like your doing a bloody good job.
