'Meh-Flake'; An individual who believes they are somehow special for either not caring or not having an opinion on a specific topic, or who claims to have no opinion/feelings on said topic. 'Butt-Flake'; An individual who gives their opinion by stating that they are 'Not 'X' but...', and fully believes that this not only means they are not about to prove they are what they claim they are not. But also that they are somehow special for saying this. I have to bring this to the audience... Cant remember the exact figures, so approximates here, but it goes something like this. During a recent phone in to give the state of the public's viewpoint.. Part of the question was did the people believe the case had been made properly. 30% of the audience phoned in to say they disagreed. 40% phoned in to say they agreed. 20% phoned in to say they needed more information to create an informed decision, and yes, they didnt believe the case had been made properly. 10% phoned in to say "I dont know" Run that phone call through your heed a while... "Hello?.. is that the radio station? its about that vote... can I vote?.. thanks, my vote is, I dont know. Thankyou. Goodbye" I dot know because you didnt give me enough information was put into the 20% "Need more information" category, that 10% was people who didnt need more information, they didnt know, and that was that, they didnt WANT to know. During a public discussion, some one stood up to have their voice... It was obvious they had no intention of discussing the point "On thread" there, they wanted to bring attention to maybe something else, they didnt get that far. They were halted by the chair-person... "Do you have anything to add to the topic of discussion here?.. if not, please leave." You have an opinion, yes, agreed, you are a person, just like anyone else in the room. However. If you have nothing to add to the discussion, why are you wasting time talking?. Are you that full of self importance that you just cant stand not being "part" of the discussion so will interupt any discussion that isnt about you because you are jealous?.. How sad is that?. If you wish to say "Look I have no idea, so, I am just going to go and leave you all to it", then go ahead, excuse yourself, go do something else, not a problem. But to interrupt a discourse to just make moth noises, WTF?.. If you have no idea, then ask questions, we are more than happy to help you understand. But making it plain that you are "Special" because you have no idea?.. well, if you want to lick the windows clean, go ahead, fill yer boots.

Why yes it is, but, "For the wrong reasons" in some places, and, I am wishing to retrieve it from them, and re-own it for its rightful purpose. Is the word "Old"?.. Yes. But can we define the thread here. Should we just invent new words, or, perhaps re-issue old words that fit the bill but have fallen out of use, and out of our usual dictionary that we all use, and reclaim them, because, like 200yr old steam engines that still work, they are fit for purpose?. My intention here is to expand the dictionary "that we all use", and in doing that, if I re-issue words that maybe some of us dont know because they are that old, is that a problem?..If therefore I have expanded your dictionary... surely that is on topic?.. I never said in the rules of this thread that we couldn't invent new uses for old words, so you're right there. That said, I do agree with some of the others. Replacing the 'c' in 'cranky' for a 'k' to make a word that means something completely different, yet still somewhere in the neighborhood of the original...? I'm not so sure that works... However, I do like the idea of what you've proposed this word should cover: That could definitely use its own word or phrase (maybe even two separate ones - one for "so way past useless and in the way that it needs to go" and one for "someone taking up the "enemy" position just because they can and think it's fun"), but I'm not sure it should be "krank" or "kranky". Any other ideas for words/phrases to describe those things?

The person could be a "controid" for generating automatic opposition to every argument.
Star Trek had the term "dunsel" that described a useless thing.

The person could be a "controid" for generating automatic opposition to every argument. Star Trek had the term "dunsel" that described a useless thing. I'm wondering if 'Dunsel' comes from 'dun-sail'; a 'dun-sail' would be a tan coloured sail on a ship. Don't try looking up 'Dunsel' in dictionaries, plenty of Star Trek fans over the years have added this to online one's. But official dictionaries don't include it. Keeping with the tone however; 'Dunsel Cap'; Examples of usage; "He's got a Dunsel Cap" "I think I was wearing a dunsel cap" Meaning; He is an idiot/his brain is a useless (or unused) part of his body. I had a moment when I just wasn't thinking

Dunce. Possibly also a variation on Dunsel?... Well that says it all... Wikipedia has it just about right there, its an "Olde word" from olde history, but Dunce is acceptable in UK English to mean a person is "Hard of learning". source of page.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DunceIt goes on to say.. Anyone who has ever had a problem with not being diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum disorders, including the time before Asbergers was invented as a term, know the fear of the dunces cap, as it was most definitely a "thing" when I was in school... If you got a zero in a spelling test, or just didnt do "work".... into the corner you went with the "remedial kids"... and then to that one lone stool in the corner.... I wonder how many of us were just told we were "Naughty" before they realised Autism was a thing?. Me?.. no... I know how to keep a watch and escape, sometimes by the skin of my teeth, from getting that far into the teachers bad books. Just. As in some days, my view was a close up of that stool, and being told I was mere seconds away from occupying it?. We had one teacher who made interesting use of that conical cap... He fashioned it into a "loudspeaker horn" thing by removing the end, and would use it to shout directly at you if you ignored him..... especially if he could creep up on you as you tried to mess about not watching him?.. I did unfortunately finish a "test" early and somehow managed to almost fall asleep once, that was a rude awakening?. And yes, he was right, if instead of day-dreaming I had have gone through my answers, I would have spotted the mistake.

Religerant - Intolerant Religorant - Ignorant
You can even change the t to ce. And they sound about the same to cover both.

Bellendrical.
Noun and adjective used to describe bell-end[1] behaviour, otherwise self descriptive, part of the "Dont be a D*ck" movement, I love this one, and just "foud" it on Tw*tter?.. it works.
[[1]Bell-end, the bit of a "body" that looks like a bell?]

from another online forum I participate in:
Benton's Law: on any serious topic, there will be a person who is obviously completely incompetent yet pretends to be a complete authority on the topic. this person will do their best to ruin any forum in which their ignorance is exposed.
