Disney spared very few expenses turning their cartoon into a live action movie, which overall had the same storyline as the animated movie (a few tweaks, and a few new songs, plus adjustments in the arrangements of the others) to be entirely honest, while I found the staging beautiful and impressive, I felt the acting was better in the animated version. - I say this in an overall sense, because there were highs and lows in both, and it may be simply that an animated face can be more expressive than a living one. otherwise, much was similar - a movie set in france where most everybody speaks in an english accent. it was engaging, and the CGI was well done, but there were some moments where I would have made different artistic choices, and I have the same final conclusion for both versions: he looked better as the beast.

I honestly had trouble getting in to this one, although it could be due in part to my finding myself right up in the very front row (there was family up that weekend, and in the confusion over who was doing what and when I didn't get my tickets in time; the front row had the only open seats).

I agree that it was easy to lose the connection.
