It has just been announced that Adam Savage will be returning to the Mythbusters fold, kind of. He'll be hosting a new Mythbusters spin off series called 'Mythbusters Jr', which will involve him hosting a show where kids get to tackle myths. Sounds good to me. ew.com/tv/2018/04/10/mythbusters-jr-adam-savage/

hopefully this doesn't mean we will be getting a series of one year spinoffs, that never find their legs.

Any news yet on when the final two episodes of the current season will air in the US? Not that I'm aware of, in fact I've not even heard anything about the new series having been renewed at this point, not that I've heard of anything to say its not being renewed either. Best guess might be that they are holding those two episodes back to air later in the year, so they can show some footage from the new series to advertise it. I suspect that the lack of communication is due to both Science Channel and Beyond Productions being tied up with planning for the spin off. Mythbusters apparently requires a rather particular set of skills and/or mindset that more traditionally trained production staff tend not to have. It is therefore likely that they are (or have been) trying to figure out who is going to be working on each series. But the number of suitable, proven, individuals is not going to be that high and the work demands are such that not many people would be able to work on both series at the same time. I know from discussions with the Bothan that the old series was more or less in constant production throughout the year regardless of if they were actually filming or not. This was on the pre-production side which was shared by both A&J and the Build Team when they were around, but I'd suspect at least partly independent pre-production teams here as the demands for a kids show will if anything be far more complex.

According to Brian Louden, they are indeed waiting for MB Jr to return before they return.
As for the new show, I am pretty stoked to see kids getting involved in the science. The times MB did the Young Scientist special or the various Archemedes Death Ray episodes with high school or college students involved, you could see how excited the kids were. This is great!

Kids section is great... now can we section the board to create a Jr version that can be used by Under 13's whilst us adults play in the senior section?.
This is an Over 13's type board, yes?. do we put in a Junior board, or would that be too stressful?.
Any volunteers for the kids section as Mods?. You will need a steel constitution and bulletproof shin guard.

Note; Federal law in the USA specifies that companies are not allowed to collect personal information on under 13's. Because of this Proboards requires anyone who creates an account to be 13 or over - as does YouTube, Google, Twitch, Twitter..... Anyone under 13 who has an account will have that account suspended automatically by the company in question.
Hence TC's base 'rating' is PG-13 by default, and any kids that show up should be using an account that was created by a parent or guardian. It will be THEIR responsibility to police what kids might see or read on the board NOT TC's.
MB is, and has always, encouraged kids to be part of the show since the old Discovery Board days. And while the PG-13 rating applied there as well this was, and here is, more to do with some myths naturally including information or discussions some parents might not want their kids to be part of or see. Language wise TC has always been PG, mainly due to understanding that kids may well end up here. Its the same reason for requiring any graphic images to be linked and contain a warning rather than posted straight to the board.
TC should be considered to be 'Suitable for kids under supervision'.

So what you are saying, we may have to expand the kids myths board, but no real change here, and just try and find something kids may want to test, or may be suitable for kids. Fine, I can deal with that. Although, I may have to borrow a few younger cousins from the greater family, my own kids are about the same level as me when it gets to technical stuff... of not beyond these days?

When I get the chance I'll move 'Young Scientists' to the ideas section and clarify the rules regarding the boards rating.

From what I can see on Brian Louden's Twitter account, they are busy filming the next series?. Not a spoiler because its out there on that account, looks like they are doing some more "Stinger" tests on car tyres, he is asking if anyone has a load of spare tyres, as they went through a few. pbs.twimg.com/media/DbCLpslXcAAXEGt.jpg

they all seem to have ghosted. That's what I thought, did they even show the 2 missing episodes in the states? There were two or three episodes that they originally cut from their schedule because they were involved in some type of legal claims over content. These may be the episodes, and because of on going legal battle, they can't air them in the U.S.

Looking it up the two episodes involved seem to be 'Electrified Escape" and "Dropping a Bomb".
The Electrified Escape episode had some things in it that may have been very dangerous if someone tried them for themselves. Can a pedestrian survive a car striking them if they were to jump at the last moment, and what is the best way to exit a car that is surrounded by downed power lines after crashing into a power line. I can see why that may have caused problems, if someone was to try either jumping over a car themselves or electrocute themselves based on the result of the myths.
It may have been shown here as we don't have the same kind of power lines by the side of the road .
The next was "Dripping a Bomb", this was about unclogging a toilet using a molten salt bomb and another myth form a computer game that I cannot remember, perhaps they used uncleared gameplay footage? Unless it was the molten salt bomb that was the issue but the Mythbusters have done worse in the past.

Unless it was the molten salt bomb that was the issue but the Mythbusters have done worse in the past. I've seen a stuntman jump over a moving car, before. I would like to see their results on the power line myth, though I pretty much know the answer. don't. if you absolutely must - say if the car is on fire - don't touch the ground at more than one point at a time. and hop with feet together instead of leaping - too close to the ground and you can draw an arc. get out of line with the poles or with any structures that have electricity serving them, because that is the most likely path the current is going to be trying to take to ground. both episodes sound interesting. maybe I can remember to try to look them up on youtube or Netflix while I'm in the UK.

Wasn't the idea to hold those two episodes for broadcast once Adam's spin-off launched?
That being said, the last few years Science Channel has done a full-series marathon running from Christmas to New Year's.
Perhaps the two episodes will debut then.

If they will show them anytime then that would,be it.
What was intresting was that Tamara and Martin who where the losing finalists were brought in as guests on those two episodes I wonder now if that has anything to do with it.
