Recent evidence is suggesting the most recent ice age (12,800-11,700 BCE) was caused by an asteroid impact, likely in Greenland. Seams to fit the evidence well. The last ice age was significantly worse in the northern hemisphere. An impact as far north as Greenland would cause the debris ejected into the atmosphere to stay further north. phys.org/news/2019-10-extraterrestrial-impact-trigger-extinction-ice-age.html

I interpret "ice age" as a period in which cooling gradually happens, gets worse and worse, and then gradually retreats; whereas this is more of a catastrophic event; which would compare more to a nuclear winter. (and a shorter version of which is mentioned at least once in recorded history.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer there is obviously a lot of thought behind it for it to be a theory - but one factor not mentioned in the article is that agricultural failures from a catastrophic winter event like that would first put strain on herbivorous animals, and second, increase hunting efforts by humans, as they shifted the focus of their food efforts more fro gathering or farming to hunting.

Well, something happened and it happened rather swiftly, starting over a few years rather than 100's of years. And asteroid impact or super volcano eruption would be about the only explanation of the rapidity of the event. Geo evidence sees to eliminate the super volcano theory so that only leaves an asteroid hit.
