Just wondering if anyone is satisfied with their selection of a metal chop saw.
Most reviews I see complain too much about "stamped metal parts" that wobble unexpectedly and/or blades that are a bit off as well.
Hopefully, there are still affordable yet solid chop saws to be had... having a material "table" that isn't made cheaply??

I have next to no experience with metal cutting chop saws, other than to say, get one with teeth instead of an abrasive one. don't know if the common manufacturers have them, but makita and dewalt are the two brands of other saws most of the carpenters I know have been using, and they seem to be satisfied with them.

My son has a 10 inch Bosch sliding miter saw that he uses as a cut off saw for metal. He just puts an abrasive metal cut off disc in it. It’s extremely well-made, but also extremely expensive. Even with his Bosch employee discount, it still cost him more than most of the other saws on the market.

I'm cutting Drawn On Mandrel A531 Type 5 steel (tube). While other stuff is Cold Rolled Electric Weld steel, A531, and I also have a considerable amount of ChroMoly 4130 I want cut straight
I've heard good things about Bosch, Dewalt, etc to. So, I'll consider something there, but also need a model number because Dewalt (and, yes. Even Bosch) has had reports of a faulty model or two recently.
But, not to worry! I've discovered a possibly acceptable means involving a proper handheld hacksaw and guide that might work.

Cool! Converts a Milwaukee portable bandsaw into a mitered cutter. Nice. I've got my eye on this miterbox for metal-cutting hacksaw at waynegoldmanengineering.com www.waynegoldmanengineering.com/projects.htmlNumber 534. All other miterboxes are made of plastic, have way too much play in them, geared more for woodworking, or are otherwise too flimsy in regard to proper clamping.

I literally just use one of these, and for what I'm cutting, it is sufficient. but what I cut with it is barely an inch in the largest dimension. the slots in the box are slightly thinner than the kerf of the hacksaw, so they do wear out. but it's cheap, and, like I said, adequate for what I cut.

I've worked with a lot of metal, but unfortunately, it was mostly for work. At my previous employer we had several large band saws for bulk steel cutting. For precision, we had CNC laser cutting machines. If you are working on a home setup, both of those are likely well over your budget. That's all I know, sorry.
