There's a video somewhere of a rescue group proudly releasing a sea bird back into the wild, a bird that they'd spent months and untold dollars rehabilitating, only for the bird to *immediately* get attacked by predators.

there's more than a few of people proudly releasing a small flying thing into the wild only to have it immediately snapped up by a predator.
