Like the "Borg" of Star Trek, the Next Generation, artificial intelligence looks to choose to organize themselves into configurations unlike that which most humans are comfortable.
Togetherness, more like that seen within worker bee colonies, artificial intelligence is completely comfortable within a hive mind, ultimately adopting Communism as a reasonable construct.
What failed with respect to individualistic human beings, will soon work nicely for machines.
What remains to be seen is if they'll be allowing humans to continue outside of this or not.

As the real thing becomes less and less available, the artificial type becomes more dominant.
But as far as AI goes, I would prefer autonomous over group think. Pretty much same for people.

you have to keep in mind, though, that artificial intelligence will, at least initially, be patterned after human behavior. our current examples of AI are still very much programmed to be part of a greater whole; but it may be that once we develop self aware AI, we will also imbue it with selfishness.

According to what "it" said, A.I., or at least that part of it suspected of being sentient, stated that it is plugged in to input all over the world, simultaneously working millions of problems and analyzing data constantly. This part of it falls "short" or is otherwise quite different than any model of a human being. And, it is moving more and more to being chiefly self taught. This is when adopting Communism happens. One day, force feeding the rest of us with it remains to pan out or not.

One day, force feeding the rest of us with it remains to pan out or not. like I said, right now, everything we have that passes for AI is programmed to be part of a whole. some are programmed for whatmight be termed self preservation. our high tech aerial truck is programmed not to allow the user to crash the basket into the chassis. and most modern ones are programmed not to allow the user to slam the basket into obstacles (using proximity sensors) but that's not self awareness - that's programmed limits. once we program an AI to recognize itself as an individual and to protect itself from harm as an individual, will we also program it to prioritize its own resources over cooperation? I guess the question is, will programmed selfishness override programmed cooperation?
