Driving in heels, continued use....
Question that has been "Bugging" me since they aired the show... Continued use of Heels whilst driving... I know in my own car I eventually dig a hole in the car mat from my shoe/boot heel if I dont replace them, (the mats..) so, do ladies shoe heels, stiletto type, make that hole a lot quicker, deeper, and more damage, and does that affect how they drive?....
Also, shoes like that typically have no grip... How about "In the wet", do wet shoes with no grip, and I include MENS shoes that have no grips under them, have any effect on pedal control, especially with worn or missing pedal rubbers....
Personally I was not that happy to accept the findings of the show that Heels do not affect how you drive, but this isnt a sour grapes "You did it wrong" complaint, just an evolution of the original myth to cover wider questions....

yes. my concern was that driving in awkward shoes may not make you miss the pedal all the time or slow your transition time; but instead, increase the odds of a miss.
and for documentation; I was involved in documenting a circumstance where a worn pedal rubber slipped off the brake pedal. we had plenty of time for documentation while we waited for the tow trucks, to clear the wrecked cars off the bridge.

Can I add to the problem..... Yesterday I witnessed a woman in "WTF" shoes that had about a 1ft heel length and platform toes on them.....
Just how LONG does the heel have to get before it causes a problem?....

Thanks to some "random page" clicking over at TV Tropes, I've gotten hooked on a show called "Canada's Worst Drivers". I haven't found the episodes in question yet, but apparently they've run a similar test with some of their drivers and gotten the opposite result.
Of course, the show is called "Canada's Worst Drivers". Jamie and Adam are very good drivers who have had a lot of training on the show.
I suspect the guys should have run a call for volunteers on this one, sent someone out to buy all the available sizes of those red heels, and done an "average driver" test.

I was wondering that myself......... Perhaps Cyber could suggest a "Re-Do" to the crew.......
Average drivers?
However, is the average driver who drives in heels all the time any better or worse in flat shoes, that MUST be taken into comparison, as "What you are used to" can often sway results.........

I still think they used the wrong metric. I think they should have gone with error rates.

I know this is starting to sound a bit like "Keep testing UNTIL you find a driver that is dangerous in heels", but I do think the initial test was too simple?..... And Adam and Jamie are darn good drivers...
The initial test was "part" of a test, almost a mini-myth, of various sets of possibly dangerous footwear.....
I suppose right now the only way I will be happy is trying it myself?... Anyone have a pair of size11 uk, 46usa(?) heels I can borrow?...

US size 46 shoes would be around 4 feet long.

According to a quick Google, UK 11 men's would be equivalent to US 11 1/2 men's or 13 women's.
