Rising Damp.... Its a Myth...
Unless you live in a swamp.
Damp does NOT rise?.. capillary action will make water go upwards, but a brick-built house will NOT soak water from the ground into its walls.... Pure Damp will just stay where it is. Unless you add more.
Unless, as stated, you live in a VERY wet ground area.
Rising Damp is therefore a "trade" thing, as in its used to cover a whole lot of problems.

I've heard of it, but I always assumed it referred to wicking action in a wet environment.
