Many years ago I had access to a Celestron C-90 telescope and an adaptor that would fit my Canon AE-1. I took this photo of my daughter standing in the street, from my front porch. The sun was setting behind her. Technically, it's not a good photo, but it is the all time favorite I've ever taken. To me it is hauntingly beautiful.

I've taken a few photographs of that nature. the ones that are wonderful, but uneducated people think are done wrong, because it didn't get the results THEY wanted.

I took this at Grattan Raceway whilst wandering the pits one afternoon. I have several nice images from the Grattan pits.

If you've got Ad-Block Plus or another good ad blocker on your browser, then you've got a photo gallery I have as part of my overall portfolio on Deviant Art.* Most of the pictures on the first page - and a few elsewhere in my portfolio - were taken with a cheap digital camera I got from one of my brothers; it had been packed in as a "freebie" with a printer he had gotten, but as he already had a digital camera he didn't need it. When that stopped working, I got a GE digital camera; the rest of the shots you see were taken with that. I had it for a good 2+ years before it, too, gave up the ghost last summer. My parents got me a new camera for Christmas, but I've been so busy dealing with IRL drama that I haven't had the time to break it in yet. edit - Here's one of my personal favorites, a slice-of-life for my part of Texas: ironhold.deviantart.com/art/Welcome-To-Texas-295308190*DA's third-party ad servers typically get hacked at least twice a year, with viruses implanted in the ads each time. I do want to set up my own page somewhere, but presently do not have the money to do so.

This photo I took of my son is still one of my favorites. Spring 2006 at the coast in northern California, just shy of his 3rd birthday.

Mine is attached to this post. Taken in the Great Smoky mountains near the boarder between North Carolina and Tennessee last October. I am looking forward to going back with a good camera and seeing what I can get.

Shot this on my Praktina FX, 59mm lens, 1/60th sec, 400 ASA Attachment DeletedAnd oh, finally got a digital with interchangeable lenses, Nikon D5200. Shot this with the 18-55mm zoom at 18mm, at or around F9.5, 1/200 - Exposures varied by image. Put together a 360ᶱ montage view from my property last winter, now to come up with something creative to build there. Might start with a simple Nipa hut and/or the occasional old shipping container. I really have no idea what we are going to build there, the thought crossed my mind to bury part of the house into the hill. Whatever we build it will need to be able to withstand the occasional harsh wind. I am looking for a balance between "strong enough to stay together" and "cheap enough to replace" if it gets destroyed surfing a landslide, trying to fly, or shook into oblivion. Attachment Deleted

I don't support the text in this photo, I took this for the cover of a role playing game. Which RPG was it? 2 The games creater used to play D&D until he got tired of endless books to buy and the commonality of characters that achieve ridiculous levels of power. He decided to make a better game instead of sit around hoping someone else would do it. He created a game that contained a basic set of rules and the adventure role players wanted to go on. He then adapted it to represent different periods in time. The first in a series of four era's are "Ironhedge", next came "Westhedge, Ganghedge and Starhedge." The books contains a simple concise structure to maintain essentials such as Health of character, food, and water. Characters are limited to three basic "strengths", which is ironically one of the three attributes (no pun intended in IRON-ically). I really am not sure how much I can say about it on this reply, the game has not been released to the public by anyone other than its creator as of yet. He was offered a printing of "Ironhedge" by a company in Germany but he didn't want to release the game to another party until all four books were complete. That was some years ago and unfortunately not much is happening with the game at this time. There are complete games, and/or individual books printed but you would have to contact the games creator to make an inquiry. There is no specific site where it is sold so I couldn't link to a commercial site I wanted to. I can say this, I've spent countless hours test playing the rules throughout the game's development. And I can also tell you this; Warning: This game contains free thought, free trade, low taxes, local government, unrestricted travel, class and merit systems, upward mobility, and other anti-communist muse; It may make you think for yourself, and turn you into an individual. That is an actual warning from the books. There is also a disclaimer assuring fanatical ignoramus who would try to link the game to Satanism, that no such link exists, it is just a game. Never know when some loser will obtain a sword and head into the sewers, imagining themselves a medieval knight in shining armor (or worse). There are a couple links that reference the game: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ironhedgeindex.rpg.net/display-search.phtml?key=system&value=Ironhedge&sort=system,systemversion Shot this in the spirit of the game. I was just playing around with set design, I made the "stone pillar" that the glass orb is resting on with wire and paper machete. I selected this image from the original set and created another setting to place it in. I cut out the image of the girl, the stone pillar, and the orb from an original print. I then created an alien surface inside of a cardboard box approx. 18"X18"X25" with "Kitty Litter" and small stones. I also included a scale model of a skeleton in the background, half buried that was included in a plastic "54" Ford Stepside Pick-up Truck I assembled 25 years or so earlier. If you look just left of her boots you will see the rib-cage and the lower jaw. I simply stuck the cutout into the kitty litter and then placed the rocks and skeleton around it. Behind this scene I cut the end of the cardboard box out and taped in heavy black background paper. The stars are created by poking holes in the black paper and then tossing a light source behind. I cut a small hole in "my" end of the box big enough to point my Zeiss lens through, and another hole in the top of the box to light scene from above. Meter reading was handheld with a "Luna Pro" light meter. The reading was taken from the back of my hand, leaning towards the shadow side of the hand. I generally meter for the shadows when using negative film. This is just a color copy made at Kinko's Copy. I had it in an Album long enough for it to stick to the plastic, thus the inconsistent finish. I wanted a full page print but not bad enough to pay for a real one. I originally had made a "cave" entrance from wood, wire, and paper machete but I didn't like the way it looked so I made this instead. I like it but it certainly could be better. Attachment Deleted

I forget sometimes how lucky I am living here as a gamer, here in the UK we hardly ever have to deal with the kind of 'links to Satan' problem that your friend felt it was important to address in his book. A person who is mentally ill will grab onto an outlet for their illness, their illness would not be caused by the game. That's just Mazes and Monsters Hysteria, if a person was to suddenly start stopping people in Mayfair and try to charge them £50 rent would we blame Monoploy for causing their illness or was that person illness there before hand. And as we have all seen on YouTube plain old simple stupidity is out there every where these days. I like to play a spread of games myself, some D&D but also Cuthulu, Champions,Traveller,, Shadowrun.... Oh heck too many to mention really. I have also done a little play testing of some it's fun to see your comments included in a finished article.

Sure, so long as you are correct about how bad the weather will get for you! There is no shortage of history containing vain attempts to outwit Mother Nature, and this IS located in the "Ring of Fire". Of course I'd like to think I can actually be the one to come up with something that does stay together.

One of my favorite "fluke pics", this is from a snow storm back in 2009. I had the flash on and it reflected off falling snowflakes to make this beautiful image.
