There is a Myth, that the fixative-in-a-can stuff that you get instead of a spare, if you put that can into use to fix a puncture, unless you take it IMMEDIATELY to a garage, it will set inside so strong it will glue the tyre to the rim. Beyond economical repair for either tyre or rim.
I know they already did a show on Fix-A-Flat, but they missed this one.....
Partial truth, tyre mechanics hate that stuff, it does set inside the tyre and make quite a mess, even more so if you are unlucky enough to have those Aluminium wheels ... its a (swine) to remove, and does create extra work. If it hasnt set fully, it also gets all over their tools.....
It is also reported that if you do not drive for "x" number of miles after using that stuff, it will drain down to the bottom (inside)of the tyre and affect wheel balance?.... I call plausible on that, because I have some very small balance weights on my wheels right now?....
