So sudden regain of a Land rover brakes cause a flip. Now what about ABS......................... (Which you cant turn off on a Ranger Rover anyway...) As far as I can know, remembering I am a F1 fan, WRC fan etc but NOT a mechanic, I know that the ABS, Intelligent Braking, and CERTAINLY the stability control available to Ranger Rovers will NOT let you lift two wheels of the ground under braking. If you throw it at a corner, it may lift a wheel, but you would have to be driving it to do that on purpose. Sudden regain of the brakes, without any other force involved, such as collision with an object, is NOT enough to lift two wheels on a Range Rover.... You just cant get enough grip through the tyres to do that anyway?... Unless you altered the "Game", I am thinking a sudden stop on a VERY steep hill and letting physics take over and the vehicle tipping by the centre of gravity being thrown forward of the front axle.... and by "very steep" do you mean one about as steep as the one they pitched the car off for the car explosion episode? It is a redneck thing, but I have seen a photograph of a pickup standing up on end from the driver attempting to climb too steep a hill. definitely not something you would want to try to do on purpose.

Renecks got nuttin' 'gainst what some people will do.... If it has an engine, it will be raced.... And on that score, I am one of the silly sods who's old motto used to be "Can I have a go?...".... Have you ever seen Icelanders doing Rock climbs in their "Trucks", near vertical walls, a hill climb ramp, lots of speed onto the ramp and highest up the hill or first over wins. Landrover Discovery can manage a 45% tilt without much sweat. Just stir the forest of gear leavers, or hit the right selection of buttons to do whatever you are trying to do, lock certain diffs select low range crawler etc, and if a vehicle can do it, the Bowler does it better... (Bowler, a company that takes Land-Rovers and goes all out on the extras...) Yes I have taken one on an extreme hill climb off road bit. Mountain Rescue initially, over 20 years back, I have always respected them since. If the land rover cant get there, its not worth trying... (Unless you have an Argo-Cat.)

I have to say, the hill climbing where they put an F-1 track on a sidehill and expect the hillclimber to make the full circuit are more impressive than the straight line hillclimbs.
but consider, there are two different measurements of too steep. I saw a civilian HMMWV attemps a hill that was too steep - I think he ran out of traction at around 60 degrees.
the pickup I saw the photograph of exceeded the other measurement - it would have rolled end over end except for the fortuitous circumstance of balancing on its bumper.

Its a case of whatever you can think of, someone will put an engine to work... and some things you never in a day of crazy would have though of as well...
Some of it is just too out there for words. Google the Icelanders taking their hill climbers for a lake crossing....
Yep, they tried it, same as the bike over water, those crazy Icelanders take those trucks over water....
First time I saw that, I just sat there slack jaw for a while until my brain caught up wit what my eyes just saw?.... I had to rewind several times before I could believe it wasn't special effects.... there is a ton of truck skipping over a lake a few fathoms deep.....
Richard Hammond from UK's top gear tries to explain it all......
