Unusually warm and pleasant even for Texas, but there's supposed to be a cold front this weekend taking us down to more traditional weather for this time of year.

I got an energy report email from my thermostat. (yeah, my thermostat sends me emails.) It said that in January of this year, my furnace ran 56 more hours than it did in Jan of last year. It also said that January 2024 was, on average, 6 degrees colder than Jan 2023. Not really a surprise as we had that solid week where the temperature never got above zero. Now just waiting for the news from the climate environmentalnuts saying it was the warmest January on record.

74º and a beautiful day today. And the first tornado watch of the year. and our weather's normal for the moment, which means 40s and raining. Had a front come through about 6:30 that brought us some pretty heavy hail. There were reports of a couple of tornadoes touching down about 10 miles north of me, but I haven’t heard any reports of damage. My son was on a plane at O’Hare trying to get to Atlanta Georgia. They made it to the runway and then the FAA issued a ground stop for all departures. The pilot came on the intercom, and in a very calm voice, assured everyone how safe they were sitting on the end of the runway during a tornado. He said he didn’t know how long they would be there because they just evacuated the control tower. Maybe they were just moving the flight controllers to the end of the runway where they’d be safe.

perfect day for hooking up rooftop ventilators with frequency drives inside the units. by which I mean the rain wasn't straight in the one with the side hatch OR straight in the one with the top cover.

Rain and mist most of the morning so far, possibly ahead of a storm tonight. We can use the rain.

Rain and mist most of the morning so far, possibly ahead of a storm tonight. We can use the rain. we had a hot spell last week. it actually hit 80, inland, but now we're back to normal spring weather.

We almost didn't see the eclipse locally for the cloud cover, we had a fog last night, and this morning we had a hard storm. Now it's sunny again, but we're supposed to have another line of weather move through later tonight.

well, I decided since I actually get a saturday off, to start relatively early and do yard work; then hang around the house in the afternoon. I got the hedge trimmer stuff done, and the lawnmower stuff done, and dug some raspberry shoots to send to my mother on monday, and then got all the branch wood cut up for kindling that's been sitting on the front patio since last summer. and now it's starting to rain. for once my timing was close to right.

Another possible storm front coming in on Monday night, and it's already windy & overcast.
We need the rain, though.

it's good that, despite the weather trying to hinder, you're able to still be productive.

Lake Waco is where it should be, but Belton Lake is still 11 feet below normal. So even though we've had enough rain to go to Stage 1 restrictions from Stage 2, we're hoping we get more.
