Kari and Tory confirmed tonight on their Twitter feeds that they are no longer going to be a part of MythBusters.
I never expected that I would feel so sad and angry over the job terminations of people I've never met before.

This is BS. Just why?... My Commiserations to them, but this is not how it should end.

Bloody hell.... what are we going to do now?....
For my part, I think the site should stay up even if the show is cancelled. You never know..... Someone else may need our invaluable skills.

Discovery doesn't own the site so I say yes keep it up. After all their are fan groups/sites/pages dedicated to the original Star Trek show. & that show has been off the air for how many years now? & if any of those *CENSORED* tw*ts from Discovery ARE reading this: YOUR ALL A BUNCH OF *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*,*CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*,*CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*,*CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*,*CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*,*CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*,*CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*,*CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*,*CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*,*CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*,*CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*,*CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, *CENSORED*, IDIOTS!

When Adam said they were going back to the beginning, I had no idea they meant literally the beginning.
Still seems very weird, but it does explain the lack of posts from the set by the M7 crew these last few months.

WHAT?! How could this happen? I'm usually not a sensitive guy, but that actually hurt a little to read! It feels like having your best work buddies fired and then being expected to move on like they were never there to begin with. What the hell?!
Does anyone know why? Has there been an official statement?
ADDENDUM: Cyber, is there any way you could possibly get a farewell interview with Grant or Tory or maybe even a followup with Kari? I know there's a high probability that they're contractually bound to not comment on why they've been cut, but in case they're not, it would be nice to hear it from them. Possibly ask them if they have anything else up their sleeves that we should be watching for?

I doubt it to be honest.
If they had anything confirmed for the future they would probably have said so, and I doubt they would add anything beyond the existing statement that has been made.
Before you get too worried about the build teams futures note that they know Adam, Jamie, Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day. All of whom run their own production companies (Wil and Felicia's is net-based). If they have any shows in the works and need presenters I would imagine that the build team would be seriously considered, given their experience. (By in the works I mean under development, not about to be filmed as it is likely that they would have mentioned this)

Of course there is the possibility that they just want to distance themselves from everything Mythbusters right now, which I would completely understand and respect, so maybe we should wait a while...

Another surprising aspect is that they were able to keep it secret from all the entertainment related tabloids/publications.

Another surprising aspect is that they were able to keep it secret from all the entertainment related tabloids/publications. Here's hoping the tabloids will show as little interest in them after the fact as they did up to the announcement and not hound them too badly. Not that I'm expecting much from those types in terms of respecting people's privacy.

Watching the show last night and hearing the news at the end, certainly brought the mood down in my house. My wife and I were both surprised by the announcement and saddened. But, those 3 had lives before MB, and hopefully they'll have even better ones post MB. I would imagine being on the show would only open doors for them in their future endeavors.

I keep checking the date to make sure it's not April 1st.
I just don't get it.
Okay, I'm going to have to think this one over--it's a heck of a shock at 6 in the morning...

and they may still be working for M5 - just not in on-camera roles.

Here is a good link that has fan reaction, as well as a possible hint about at least some of their futures.

08 August 2014, 2.227 people watched a rerun of The Big Bang Theory at 9pm. 2.907 million watched Pawn Stars. 2.008 million watched Project Runway. Mythbusters came in 59th with 0.921 million.
The previous week had basically the same numbers.
This week Mythbusters came in at 55th with 1.016 million viewers. 9pm Mythbusters is Discovery's only show to make the list (100) Thursday night. Wednesday night, Naked & Afraid was on the list 3x: 0.947 million, 0.898 million, 0.731 million (ranked 99th).
They never break the top 50 for cable shows no matter what day they air. The Big Bang Theory came in 1st (10pm), 2nd (10:30pm) and 5th (9:30 pm). The 9 pm showing came in at 11th. The Big Bang Theory always comes in 1st & 2nd every week (10 & 10:30 shows) and have a 3rd in the top 5. A rerun has more viewers than this show.
The B team was let go because basically nobody watches the show. Costs have to be cut, money saved.

Like I said elsewhere - Mythbusters is an intelligent show and appeals to intelligent viewers. obviously that doesn't fit Discovery Channel's profile for desirable shows. so... mythbusters is Discovery's best show - obviously the way to increase their viewer share is to tamper with mythbusters. As Red GReen used to say, "If it's not broken, you're not trying."

The thought occurred to me that earlier this year Science Channel green-lighted the Craig Ferguson-produced "I F-Ing Love Science". And now three TV hosts are available.... Hmmm.... [/speculation]
