Probably, one of the interviews mentioned them having filmed a Zombie special, which will most likely be aired the last week of October as their Halloween special. They have also been very busy throughout the year filming, so they are going to have a lot of episodes in the can.
Just wondering if they have used anything that come from TC - its been almost a full year since the board opened so they have had the time to pick up and film some of the earlier and simpler ideas posted on here.
No idea what they may have tested beyond the Zombie episode, but I can't help hoping that something might have made it onto the show.

Is it just me or does this break seem longer than previous years?
Maybe it's just that I haven't seen any reruns lately...

The Break is about the same as it has been in the last few years.
Last episode of the spring run ends around the second week of June, and the season resumes around the first week of October. There is usually a special stand alone episode in July or August.

Maybe it's just that I haven't seen any reruns lately... Probably this. Discovery Networks seems to be getting aggressive about keeping "new" material in the mix. If you'll notice, once a "prime-time" show is finished for the season, rather than running re-runs the show is just simply gone; if it does remain on the air, then the re-runs are day-time filler. The one exception appears to be The Hub, and that's likely due to Hasbro and American Greetings having a say in what does and doesn't air. For example, the last "new" episode of "Transformers: Rescue Bots" aired over a year ago (August 12th, 2012 vs. September 26th, 2013), but the re-runs are still being broadcast because there is still profit to be made via both advertising sales and toy sales. (IIRC, it'll be next February before the next season officially begins.)

Did Disco shove the start time back? Their online schedule is currently showing a marathon of "Alaska: The Last Frontier" on October 9.

The Zombie Special will air Thursday 17th October at 10pm in the USA. This should be the start of the new season...
*Edit/Update*
...Or not. There is no listing on Discovery or elsewhere to indicate that there will be another new episode next week. Nor for that matter any indication as to when we can expect the new season to start.
Blame Discovery for this, they REALLY need to advertise their shows better. Its not like the total lack of communication from them about the show hasn't been complained about for, oh, the last eight years....
My best guess is that the new season will start during the Sweeps, since Mythbusters is one of Discovery's flagship shows. The Sweep period runs from October 31st to November 27th of this year. The 31st is a Thursday, so either the new series will start on the 30th or November the 6th if they stick to a Wednesday timeslot. So figure at least two or three weeks from writing. I can't see them holding back new episodes longer than this, as they would miss out half of the sweep period.

Well, we got that silly Zombie special and nothing since. Anyone know when the next new episode airs?

Well, we got that silly Zombie special and nothing since. Anyone know when the next new episode airs? Nope. I was guessing November 6th, which would be the first full week of the fall sweeps and MB is one of Discovery's flagship shows and presumably they'd want to raise their rating figures by wanting new episodes to air during this period. However logic, common/business sense and Discovery Channel have apparently long since parted ways. Unless they've moved MB to another day, there is no indication as to when Discovery intends to air new episodes. At this rate the Fall 2013 season of the show will air in March of 2014.... *Edit* I'm going to see if I can get any information through Discovery as to when the new season will start. I don't expect a useful reply, but you never know. I'll let you know when/if they get back in touch - which according to their site should be within a week.

*Update*
Got a reply from Discovery;
A couple of points here.
First is that credit should be given for replying so quickly.
Second is that as far as I can tell they were 'mistaken' about the monthly schedule. In fact as far as I'm able to tell they only have a schedule for a week in advance.
This is...well words fail me. How the hell has Discovery survived this long by operating this way?

so the sum total of the 2013 season was two movie/TV tie-ins...

Cyber - Hate to say this, but a rather shocking amount of companies manage to survive despite gaping incompetence. As an example, consider Fun Publications, the company that runs the official G. I. Joe and Transformers fan clubs and conventions: That's right: FunPub's security protocols were virtually non-existent, and so a number of people who had either purchased exclusive product through them or bought convention tickets through them had their credit card and debit card numbers stolen. For all intents and purposes, the guy in charge cared more about the incident making him look bad than everyone who was hurt because he couldn't be bothered to spring for periodic upgrades to the site. Couple this with a rather alarming incidence rate of bad decision-making on the guy's part, and a lot of fans are abandoning the clubs and conventions.

No news at ALL about them. No adverts for upcomming, no "Will return in the autumn", no nuffin.... the last show aired and that was it, no announcement that it was the last in the series even, it just aired, and then NOTHING.....

Discovery seems to be more concerned with programming about the south & Alaska. Moonshiners & Porter Ridge (a huge pile of steaming...) are both back. Alaska: The Last Frontier & Gold Rush are both back (following the Gold Rush/South America spin-off). The filming of Deadliest Catch was delayed due to the Government Shutdown.
MBs have always been money-in-the-bank for Disco, so it seems the delay is alienating the viewers who only watch Disco because of quality programming such as MBs. I wonder if anybody on the MBs production staff would be able to give a better estimate of when the new season will start?

I suspect that if the producers of MB were in a position to say anything they would have already done so.
At this point it seems that my earlier joke about the fall season starting in March 2014 might not be much of a joke at all. It isn't as if they don't have any episodes ready - no less than two episodes have been aired in Australia and the UK that have yet to be shown on US TV.
Someone at Discovery needs to be transferred to a job that better suits their skills. Doorstop springs to mind....

Would this be a more appropriate use of their ineptitude?
