the proper treatment for such a family is to ignore them. pretend they don't exist. I won't go so far as to say boycott their sponsors, but pointing out in public fora that you have no idea who would sponsor such a show because you never watch it... (kinda like I have no idea who sponsors the shows Mrs TLW does watch, because she records them on DVR and skips the commercials)

Its GOOD news..... Someone has taken my suggestion and run with it... My suggestion was rewind on live radio.
Ever hear something on Radio that makes you wonder "Did I just hear that?...".... Well, if the radio has a CD in it, they are looking into ways of using the already familiar rewind controls to do a ten-second rewind, 30 second, or 4 mins rewind dependant on how long you hold the button down... or something like that.

This just in. my high school won their first football game of the season.
they were doing a very good job of moving the ball steadily down the field. the offensive line was doing a pretty good job, too.

You found it... its good..... excellent "Why didnt we think of this before?.. " idea. Missed that traffic report?... <<Rewind. Thought you heard that news article wrong?..<< rewind. I can see this going far quickly.

Well they did in around 2011, I think thats about how long it has been on sale for.
But the pick up has not been strong.
My Sky+ Box will record radio, let me live pause TV but for some reason I cannot live pause radio on it.

Enjoying a weekend break at Centre parcs, sun is shining, birds and deer are in the woods, and have better WiFI than at home. It great that they have an indoor and outdoor pool, outdoors is lovely today.

I can see this going far quickly. tuned in two seconds late - still out of luck. I think the reason it started in radios with CD players is that a lot of CD players now have a "read ahead" buffer that lets them deal with read errors caused by the radio being portable. - so the techie jump required is to realize you can use that buffer to save the audio from the radio for a potential rewind. of course, that requires more complicated control systems than just having some audio stored in case the CD has a hiccup.

Turned the radio on at the end of the report... Well, if the radio is in "Standby", why cant it buffer the last [x] minutes of the station last listened to for just that reason?... Standby is not off, so what is it then?... If its off, and power disconnected, then tough, what were you expecting?...
Its just I have never fully understood this need for "Standby" when its not doing anything at all to warrant still consuming power.
"Saving your stations".... Erm... we have enough technology to use non power consuming memory to do that. Flash memory could be used.
Want a longer buffer?... then put in a slot for a micro-SD card.
