OK, testing the picture I've been trying to add again... EDIT: Success! This is one of the boxes I made in my new hobby. It has a fall theme with scrapbook stuff on the top.

Lovely! And great photos, Pulp!
I'd count dining with friends as a hobby, cijay. Sounds like a great pasttime.
I like reading, needlepoint, cross stitch, TV, Twitter, and very amateur photography.

I play guitar, banjo, and mandolin, and I also build cigar-box guitars and other instruments.
Got a fair collection including a banjo, a mandola, and a fiddle, and hard-to-classify things like a two-string fretless "bass".
I like cycling, and I rebuild/refurbish old bikes for re-sale. I have a vintage European roadster that's my main ride.
I also like to build other things; I've made archery tackle, a couple of air guns....Oh, I do a little knife-throwing too.

I'm jealous of anyone who can play guitar. I've tried and tried, and my fingers just won't do what the books tell me to do. I can pick out melodies, but have never been able to chord.
I forgot to mention earlier, I do play a bit on harmonica. This is a 5 minute safety topic I recorded and changed the words from "Poor Wayfaring Stranger" to something more fitting for a papermill.

With you ALL the way! I can't even get my fingers to obey me long enough to be able to play the hardest difficulty setting on Guitar Hero, let alone get them to do anything right on a real guitar. And I'd SO love to learn!!!

Well can play the guitar, but can only get to medium difficulty with Guitar Hero. Perhaps I need more practice with the latter.

Hobby: An activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure.
Eating out with friends could be defined that way, I suppose. I know when I go out, I like to "collect" different restaurants and cuisine, and consider it a hobby.

If that's your definition of a hobby, what's a habit?

an activity done regularly despite the fact it is no longer as pleasurable as it was when you started.

Sounds like marriage and raising kids. Shhh... don't disillusion the youngsters.They're already disillusioned. We've commandeered all their 'good' toys, told them lies to get them to sleep, invented fictional characters to blackmail them into behaving and we still expect them to respect us. Who's got illusions? {Parents, who think their kids will forget all of the above before choosing the nursing home - CM}

Guitar, an instrument that will tantalise you with its possibilities, make gentle mockery of your ability, and be a constant friend through life.
I am classical trained, prefer Rock, and as I sit here, have Gibson, Fender and some others as company.
Its MY hobby... I dont perform for other people, its something I do for myself.

I used to play for my friends, but they always had something else to do when I started to play.
Used to pick a banjo, too, but had to give up both when arthritis set in.

Bummer! that suxs! My hobbies when I have the time (& energy) are: Reading - mainly Sci Fi Writing - again mainly Sci Fi Cross stitching Knitting - I belong to a group that knit hats, booties & those hand 'booties' for premi babies. We also knit them going home outfits for when they leave hospital, as they are often still too small to fit into regular sized baby clothes. Playing games on my computer/Play Station. Does coming here & chatting with you guys count as a hobby?

Chronic Degenerative Osteo Arthritis..... I used to be able to loosen wheel nuts without a spanner, now I have trouble getting the lid off a milk carton.... I STILL play.... Why?... because its good exercise and I refuse to be beaten. Ok, so I cant exactly play Cavatina (Theme tune from the film Deer Hunter) faultlessly any more, but I aint going to let a little stiffness in my fingers beat me down?...
May I implore you to rethink, pick up your friend, and blow a little dust off?.... Just "For old times sake"?.....

The little finger and second one of my left hand are way past their use by date, unfortunately.
But Django managed to play fairly well (!) despite a handicap, so I mght give it another try.
Never tried classical, I started off in a skiffle group back in 1956, imitated Duanne Eddy, and played banjo with a short-lived traditional jazz band.
Fun days, and we had music back then, not noise interspersed with more noise.
