Everyone here has either spiked winter tires or special friction ones if they don't go outside cities much.

People who live on the very small roads like the one to our cottage all year round might have 4x4 in case the snowploughs are late.

Alcohol takes out another one.

There has been a push to make more of "Death by dangerous driving".
In UK, it has just been announced that they are seriously considering the max 10 yr sentence, may be raised to "Whole life" if the circumstances are all that bad.
This is genuine, I will post links when I can find suitable ones, I just heard it on the radio this morning...

For me this is good news.

Death by dangerous driving, 10 yr sentence, out in 4, back behind the wheel in 5 yrs?.. I have known that happen and then a second offence, all before the "Kid" reached 30....

Covers the texting menace, and as far as I am concerned, if your caught "Texting" whilst driving, that should carry a more serious sentence than lower cases Drunk driving... at least Drunks are watching the road, they may be drunk, but they aint effectively BLIND
Of course if your Blind-Drunk, 3 to 4 time over the limit, away should go the licence completely for 5 yrs then retake test once you have proven responsibility.

On the subject of Drunk Drivers and texting at the same time, two sentences to run one after the other, away hame with the licence to the licensing authorities, banned for minimum 10 yrs, and that to run AFTER they have left jail for any jail time served.
Repeat offenders, lifetime ban from any road transport, I wouldnt trust them with a bloody push-bike, and mandatory lifetime alcohol ban as well.


Would I consider a lifetime transport ban as well?.. I cant see any reason to not put them on a do-not-fly list... are they a risk to other passengers when drunk?.. what you think of that?..


ALL offenders to take a mandatory "Serious" re-education program where the true horrors of what they are doing are explained, graphically, with a bucket provided, and they sit there and watch horror video until they do throw up, and if they dont, then seriously consider if they have psychopathic mental problems.

On A [REDACTED] RACE TRACK.....
I have span a car until I went dizzy on a Skid Pan.
I have done similar with a double-decker BUS...
Trust me, that is the most fun you can have on six wheels.
They didnt want to let me play with a fully loaded 44ton Artic ["Big Rig"] on their skid pan, but they did give me enough experience that when eventually I did start to jack-knife on on ice one time I sort of knew what to do...

The thing is, when you are doing that, it requires "Space"
If I get anything above a 7.5 tonner slightly sideways, I am going to need more than a two-lane urban road with people parked either side to get it back under control...

And yet, you see, daily, complete twonka's reading, typing, phoning, and all manner of other real stupid stuff, whilst doing 40in congested roadways.
Its so much that the 50's have started with a camera Truck on the M60 in Manchester to catch all the Truck drivers being tools as well as car drivers...
And from that height, you get all those SUV drivers on video with the phone on the lap you missed with the police car as well.

People are not taking driving "Seriously".
I want them to start thinking about what they are doing....

And if that means we take their car away for good.... wah wah wah all you want, your a plonka, and I dont want to share the road with you, you twit.

I now know that the department of Transport has definitely been "Listening" to all of us that have pressured for driving to be taken more seriously, and cash-cow camera's to be replaced by camera's taking it more seriously to the tune of weeding out the real nasty [redacted]holes who are doing not just 33 in a 30 zone, but 33ish whilst typing a text reply without seeing where they are going....

And those that do cause death by dangerous driving?...
This is serious, its a death, in some cases its Murder, if its due care and attention, Drunk, Distracted by Phone/Laptop/other stuff you should be ignoring, then doing that and allowing yourself to be distracted on purpose, its almost into premeditated areas?.. You KNOW that was dangerous but you chose to "Take the risk"....

I am slightly curious on the price tag for this one. the major crash scene scanner apparently has a purchase price in the neighborhood of $40,000.00. of course, the more it gets used, the less it costs per use. I'd guess around half of the major crash team was probably on overtime.

Actually, God intended ALL the wheels to be drive wheels. Ever see a 4 legged animal that only two legs worked?

Well, this biped has had to revert back to 4-limb drive while climbing up some steep inclines. I'm sure age was a contributing factor.

I agree, but some monkeys come to mind.

I've actually seen these monkeys in action. This video was taken at the Brookfield Zoo not far from where I live.

And some models even have a fifth wheel.

Fish gotta swim, Birds, on the other hand gotta fly....
I say that because I dont see many 4X4 Birds, and they use their "Front limbs" to cover great distance?..


Push or Pull, I have great faith that having the front wheels drive is as good and if not in some cases better on many vehicles,If rear wheel drive was "All that and a bag of chips", how come they added front wheel drive to make a 4X4?... front wheel drive being so bad and all that?..

In snow and ice condition, Front wheel drive "pulling" makes it easier to keep all four wheels in line.
Rear wheel drive just insists the back wheels overtake the front as soon as you add a little power.
Front wheel drive also has smaller turning circle ability...
Which is why european cars are so much better at them things we call corners than the Yanks?...
