it's owned by a hedge fund that thinks they can make more money by licensing the brand than selling off the assets I'd say it's dead brand walking.

And in all honesty , I really don’t care. Even when the kids were younger and there was no Internet sales, I still hated going into Toys “R” Us. I won’t miss them. Now Radio Shack is another story. That I do miss.

The paper is one of the worst cases of "I've made up my mind; don't confuse me with the facts" that we've had in a while. The author admitted that they were only looking for negative responses, and their sample pool was a mere 1,000 social media statements. If the statement failed one or more semi-arbitrary factors (such as misspelling certain names) then it was automatically flagged as a "bot". Yeah.

Yeah. well, people DO have a tendency to look for things that confirm their own bias.

And now for something positive - The company that has the rights to the "American Top 40" episodes from the 1970s and 1980s that feature Casey Kasem has been digitally remastering them and syndicating them out. At this point, Casey was basically just reading off the top 40 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This chart is for the episode that came out this weekend, the 7th of October, 2018 - www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100/1977-10-01Take a peek at what just hit #1.

For those who haven't yet heard -
Marvel Comics creative Chuck Windig was removed from the Star Wars books he was working on as a result of some absolutely shocking material he posted on his social media accounts. I've seen some of the postings in question, and yeah; they're bad. The main one is an extended rant he went on after Kavanaugh was appointed to the US Supreme Court; it's just tweet after tweet of him blasting the world and going off on such a tirade that George Carlin would have told him to get a grip.
Given that Disney is still at least trying to pretend that Star Wars is family-friendly, I can see why they canned him.

George Carlin would have told kavanaugh to get a grip after viewing the tirade he went on during his sexual assault hearing. and before you claim he is a victim, I will remind you that Hillary Clinton sat through REPEATED hearings over the past 8 years, without ever losing her composure.

The version he gave; terribleminds.com/ramble/2018/10/12/in-which-i-am-fired-from-marvel/He doesn't seem to realize that even as a freelancer he represents Marvel, Star Wars and hence Disney. Although this decision most likely did some from inside Marvel. It is also highly likely that they were acting on directives from Disney itself, and I wouldn't be too surprised if those directives came from Bob Iger, Disney's CEO, directly. The reason I say this is that Disney has suffered more from people in its employ mouthing off (or fingering off) on social media than simply from bad films. Jonathan Kasdan, a writer on Solo, started mouthing off on social media about Lando being 'Pansexual' a week before the films release. This a couple of months after Kathleen Kennedy had stated that they were 'Making films for 8 year old girls'. This is almost certainly one of the major factors in Solo's abysmal box office performance, as if parents heard anything about the film it would be in a context they would view as being unsuitable for their kids and thus stay away. We have heard that Kennedy was dragged into a very high powered meeting with Iger to be hauled over the coals and then some about her handling of Lucasfilm. And that the meeting included all of the higher ups from Lucasfilm along with the heads of Pixar and Marvel. Regardless of the specific date of this it is highly likely that one of the things that Iger brought up was people connected to Lucasfilm mouthing off on social media and the damage it was causing. (This would either be in connection to Ryan Johnson or Kasdan if not both). Kennedy has or had clearly done nothing to try and curb their social media comments. In the case of Kasdan Lucasfilm didn't even bother releasing any kind of statement to distance itself from him. I'd expect that Iger made it clear that this was unacceptable, and even if he was addressing his comments to Kennedy it would have been taken to heart by Marvel as well. So not a surprise if Marvel decided to act in this case.

One of Windig's tweets included him saying that anyone who voted for nope could lick feces off of his boots. That's how awful what he said was. It's no surprise then that someone, somewhere gave the order to have him fired.

Three guesses who's still making a fool of himself on Twitter... And people wonder why Comicsgate is a thing... millions of people, every day. That's right. If you can't make a public fool of yourself on Twitter, where can you make a fool of yourself? That is why I am dead against the government trying to regulate these social media sites. Our first amendment gives everyone the right to make a fool of themselves.
