now the only question is whether the media will honor their request to not pester them over the anniversary week. I truly hope so. These families, and the community in general, have been through too much already. Let them spend time amongst themselves to remember, grieve and heal. If you have a little one at home, give them an extra hug on Saturday. As you all know my cousins & her twin boys live in Newtown & the boys were at school on the day of the shooting. It took a VERY LONG TIME for them to get things back to normal for them all. Almost a year on & they like most of the kids are bouncing back from this disaster. The boys still have the occasional nightmare about that day. But everyone is worried having the press descend like a pack of vultures will only stir things up again in the town, especially for the children. They (the people of the town) have asked the press to let them be & hopefully they will - but we all know that the press isn't well known for letting victims feelings get in the way of their ratings.

The citizens of Connecticut all hope that the families are left alone. Even the CT-based media understands. The problem arises with the national media, especially since Newtown is only an hour and an half from New York City & its media glut.

Why stop at National? Why not spread the word & make it International?

Unfortunately, the gun control lobby will seek to politicize the the anniversary. They ALWAYS do.
It has already started as early as Thanksgiving.

is some form of gun control necessary? yes. does that consist of unilateral restrictions? no. does it require reasonable dialogue between all parties including both ends of the political spectrum? yes.
does this mean it will not happen? correct.

I now this is kinda mean to say, but I'm REALY hoping that Nelson Mandela's funeral will 'distract' the press away from Newtown & what happened there last year.

I find I like him better as an ex president than I liked him as president.

a little closer to home: we got the verdict on Mrs TLW's disability hearing, and it was in our favor. a couple more months, and we will be able to know how much money we will be waiting a few more months for.

Glad to hear things went in your favor. "I find I like him better as an ex president than I liked him as president." Funny, I feel the same way about Bill.

Well, I think most ex presidents have an advantage in that; what they are doing doesn't usually have the potential to make or break us.

Persistance is the ability to navigate and overcome government redtape. I hope you get every penny you are owed with interest.

Interest is too much to hope for, but we WILL get benefits back to the original date of filing. minus the lawyer's fees, of course. maybe a rule that the government has to pay the lawyer might reduce the gratuitous red tape a bit.

In the end, you had to pay for all the attorneys involved: your's via the settlement & the gov'ts via taxes. The gov't will get you any which way they can.
