Are you going to assimilate me? Actually, I thought the best line from the show was “Data loved you.“ Yes that one brought a small tear to my eye.

Actually, I thought the best line from the show was “Data loved you.“ Yes that one brought a small tear to my eye. Yeah, me too. It wasn't just the line, but the timing and the way Soji delivered it. It's interesting how Picard (the show) has all these really great lines and usually drop one right before the scene changes to some really fast paced action and it gives you no time to ponder what was just said. Another one that almost got lost to the scene change was when Seven disconnects from the Cube and says, in the Borg collective voice, "Annika still has work to do." It’s either she views herself as two separate individuals. Seven, the Borg and Annika, the human, or it was the Borg collective releasing her to do her human responsibilities.

CBS All Access is promoting a free month (Even commercial free) right now since so many people are stuck at home. I'm taking advantage of it and going to check out the series this weekend. I've read most of what everyone has said here, but also tried to stay away from any spoilers (meaning I haven't read the last few comments). I have to admit, I'm excited to check it out!

I may have to look into that as well. I'm looking at a minimum of a week off as my job shuts down. I still have STD Season 2 to watch and review.

The promo code for the free month (at least here) is "Gift".

The promo code for the free month (at least here) is "Gift". I think you still have to jump through a few hoops though. Like signing up for the service, entering the promo code to get the first month free and then canceling before you are billed for the next month. If I wasn't able to watch Picard on my son's account, I would definetly jump through the hoops to binge watch the entire first season. In fact, I like the show so much that I would pay the $5/month to watch it if I wasn't able to use my son's account. I haven't watched the last two episodes yet. The last episode of the season is released today. Since it's a two part finale, I was wating for the last episode to be released so I could watch them together.

This may have been mentioned previously and I missed it, but CBS All Access has already renewed it for a second season They announced there would be a season two before they even aired the premiere of season one. They were supposed to start filming season two in April but it’s probably going to get pushed back some because of the shut down. They’re talking summer or fall of 2021 for the release of season two.

Given Viacom / CBS' current financial situation, there's a chance that they might begin selling off assets.
This could include selling off Star Trek.

I finished Picard. I rather enjoyed it. Was it great? No, but it was entertaining and played on the nostalgia. WAY better than Discovery!

I finished Picard. I rather enjoyed it. Was it great? No, but it was entertaining and played on the nostalgia. WAY better than Discovery! I really liked Picard. Looking forward to season two. One thing I like that they did in Picard was, by the final episode of season one, they had tied up most of the lose ends that were left dangling throughout most of the season. They left just enough to make you wonder about season two. I gave up on Discovery halfway through season one. Some say it got better in season two but I never went back and have no intention of doing so.

I enjoy it the final episode was good, the Federation appears to pulled itself together again.
What the future holds we’ll see.

It is being rumored that Netflix may be eyeing VicomCBS with an eye to buying out part or all of it. ViacomeCBS inherited a LOT of debt from Paramount, around $18 Billion's worth, but the company is currently only valued at some $10 Billion. Even if you don't believe in the takeover idea. It is clear that VCBS is in dire straights and is either going to have to sell off properties and divisions or shut a hell of a lot of stuff down. Somehow, in this context, I don't think even they would be able to defend keeping CBS AA up and running.
As far as the rumor and speculation is concerned. Netflix isn't interested in the TV side of things, more properties and the film division (Paramount). Both of these make sense as (classic) Trek has done well on Netflix, and they want to be able to release their own films on the big screen to make them eligible for Oscar nominations. The speculation is that Netflix may buy out what was Paramount, along with properties such as Transformers, Trek and Teenage Mutant Turtles, while VCBS retains the various TV channels. If this is done then this would bring in badly needed capital and remove the debts. It would also, as an added bonus, remove the lawsuit filmed against Sherri Redstone for the Viacom/CBS merger. Plus, for Trek fans, it would also automatically negate the Secret Hideout deal as buying only half the company wouldn't come with any requirement to maintain the current deal. (Its also highly unlikely that Netflix would let Secret Hideout near the property if they obtained it.)

Kluzsman is still involved. I'm out. fyi; I just checked the CBS AA site and am somewhat amused at four of the ten top questions are 'how do I cancel my subscription?'

As is “How do I cancel my account” in the FAQs of Netflix, Disney+, Sky etc. its just part of good customer service.
If you just dismiss it without watching it you’ll never know if it’s any good.

There is evidence to indicate that Discovery has been cancelled, but there's just enough going on to where Midnight's Edge cannot officially call it.
