Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in the US. I want to wish everyone a happy, safe and enjoyable holiday! To those who celebrate it at a different time, or not at all, I wish you a relaxing day all the same! Thank you, and the same to you and your family. We're a little lucky here in that we get to celebrate two Thanksgivings each year. My son-in-law is Canadian. They celebrate Thanksgiving on the same day we celebrate (or use to celebrate) Columbus day. So we just have a big Thanksgiving dinner on both days. Lot's more Turkey.

clever way for him to help the community without having to do it himself.
my friend in Canada just had to reschedule a second attempt at a colonoscopy because of that snowstorm. kind of a shi**y situation for him.

despite a correctible malfunction, the Boeing Starliner successfully made a trip to the ISS. if it makes a successful trip home, it will be a step closer to being in the rotation as a space taxi.

Seems NASA is still a little hesitant to put people on board.

The problem is that NASA has largely abandoned manned space flight in and of itself, leaving foreign nations and private actors to handle matters. These kinds of things are going to happen.

These kinds of things are going to happen. more specifically, NASA has gotten out of the space taxi business to free up resources for further ventures - and to hand over the space taxi business to private enterprise.

Only so many updates you can do to an old design before you turn it into an Edsel.

In the past, NASA paid private industry to do it. Now, NASA is paying private industry to do it. Just a little different business model.

the 737 MAX is a good example of trying to combine the teething problems of building a new airplane with the outdated design issues of stretching the life of an old plane. Only so many updates you can do to an old design before you turn it into an Edsel. as I recall, the edsel was a 100% new design. and wasn't actually that bad a design, just not one the average consumer liked.
