I salute you. I do this because of the outrage I felt when a few years back (Maybe early 90's?..) I learned that one work college of mine had something highly contagious, and hadnt bothered to take days off sick.... And the management supported his choice to work. When I refused to share the same workspace, it was I who got told I was out of order?...
Needless to say, that place was another one of my list of dodgy places to work for.... and never return.... I took a full two weeks of sick because of the exposure to this, in leu of lost wages, because they wouldnt sack me, and if I walked out, I lost my pay. After the two weeks I refused to return to work as I was up for discriminant discipline charges and I didnt want that on my CV. The next job asked why I left the previous one, when I explained, they asked if I now had a clean bill of health, and who else could I rely on for a reference as they understood they wouldnt get a good one.
So I wish you a speedy recovery. Its bloody awful feeling sick at this time of the year. The days are short, there is (sod) all on TV, everyone is miserable 'cos they overspent last month, and its hard to find things to keep yourself occupied... Last year I had a flu for a week at Xmass. Its one of those that went round the whole household?... That I didnt mind. What I objected to was this bug then did a "Lap of honour"
At least you have us to keep you entertained....?..

The thermometer at my house at 7:30 this morning said -0.6F (-18C). Yep, winter has arrived. We have two or three more days of this left before we get a heat wave of temps in the 20s-30s(F)...

But, to keep things "ALL GOOD" we'll mention the snow, which is great for those who like to ski or snowmobile. And the ice fishermen are enjoying these temps also, it puts some good ice on the lakes

Last winter, by this time, we had about received about 12" or so of snow. This winter, so far, we have about 1" total. A couple dustings are about all we've had.

Lucky bar stewards! We haven't been below freezing for more than a few nights around these parts. And now you might ask, "Why is that bad? How does that make us lucky?"
Well, last winter was like this too and this past summer was the worst I've ever experienced in terms of insects. The mild winter means that fewer eggs are killed off, which means that more of them hatch when it's summer again, leaving the entire country pretty much covered in flies, mosquitoes and all sorts of other great treats during the summer.
We tried going camping in late July last year and had to pack everything back up and go home after two hours, because we were literally being eaten alive. I suffered from sleep deprivation from mid May to late August, because I had all sorts of bugs swarming around my bedroom all the time, making it next to impossible to get a good night's sleep.
I know "so cold it hurts" isn't fun, but if it means being able to spend my summer without the constant hum of bugs in my ears, I'll take it!

a bit less earth shaking, but I noticed over the weekend that my peach tree has fruit growing on it for the first time since I planted it.

I think my truck still had the flatbed on it, which would make it before 07. definitely before our bad snowstorm, which was in 2012 unfortunately, It is at an angle I almost never photograph, so I can't check check back without going through my bookkeeping to see if I logged buying it.

Heroes come in all sizes. "When a fire broke out in an Orange County mobile home Tuesday morning, two neighborhood boys rushed in to save the babies they knew lived inside. Isiah Francis, 10, and Jeremiah Grimes, 11, were playing in Isiah’s home when they said they smelled something, saw smoke and noticed the children’s stepfather trying to put out a blaze. Realizing that the babies were still inside the home, the boys stepped up to help." Finally some news out of Florida that doesn't belong in the Stupid or Weird category.
