I just saw this.... How long have you been hiding this idea over there?... utterly brilliant, a steerable trailer that can act as a double-your-width plough..... I presume the (water?) tank is to give it weight so it can dig down to the surface.

I presume the (water?) tank is to give it weight so it can dig down to the surface. I would guess the tanks carry liquid de-icer, rather than water - and the weight is more beneficial to keeping traction than making the blades dig in.

I though the two would be dependant..... Too much dig-in, no traction?...

I though the two would be dependant..... Too much dig-in, no traction?... on all of the plows I have been around, the blades are lifted mechanically, but in operating position, they are allowed to "float" - meaning it is only the weight of the blade, itself, that is holding it down. they also often have a spring hinge on the mount so if they hit something harder than they like, they will flex forward and disengage from it. addendum: this is how other places do it. addendum to the addendum: this is representative of what my city uses: (the equipment, that is, not the conditions)

That makes sense then. The towed vehicle steers out but need weight and traction to stay at that angle.

Snowcleaning for the big kids ;D they use 12 of these on a row to clean a runway and they look freaking scary when you are driving a normal car near em it looks to me like they have a blade for clearing most of the snow and then the brush takes the rest down to the paving? do they have ice problems, or is it typically enough below freezing that ice buildup isn't really an issue?

All airports want zero snow for landing aircraft. The smallest excuse for skidding is not tolerated?...

Too bad the girl is so self-conscious about the camera that it made her a little timid with her voice to begin with. She has a beautiful voice and I was glad to hear her step it up a notch when she sang along with her brother. Well done by both of them and thanks for sharing EDIT: Just listened to some of Nathan Leach's original stuff. This kid is really talented! Reminds me of a young Jason Mraz and that's a compliment in any possible way you can think of. Again, thanks for sharing GTCGreg!

you know you're old when the music you grew up with is now considered classical.
